Dr Shamila Wanninayake

Dr Shamila Wanninayake is an Oxford GP and GP tutor for Oxford University. She has a special interest in Child Obesity and is passionate about tackling ‘one of the WHO global public health challenges for the 21st Century.’   Prior to medicine she was involved in obesity research at University of Leeds.  She then worked at Alder Hey Children’s hospital before retraining as a doctor at UCL. As Clinical Health Education Fellow she is currently working with a multidisciplinary team to develop a Child healthy weight pathway as part of Oxford City Council’s ‘Whole Systems Approach.’ She sits on the Board for the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) and is a member of the RCGP Special Interest Group for Nutrition.
