Biography

Dr Laura Pugh qualified from Birmingham University in 1988 and has been at Cape Hill Medical Centre since 2006, she was CD for Caritas PCN from 2019-2020 and remains the practice lead for the PCN. She is a partner and trainer and enjoys supporting junior colleagues in developing their potential.

Her main interests are in health inequalities and marginalized groups and she worked purely with refugee populations for several years before coming to Cape Hill. Since around 2014 she has supported the practice in developing a robust approach to delivering care to Nursing and Care home patients, and as part of that, worked with the Gold Standard Framework Team to firstly, develop her own team to the standard of GSF accreditation in end-of-life care and then to support the roll out of GSF training to around 100 practices in the Birmingham area around holistic end of life care. Her on going work includes developing staff into new roles including those for cross boundary care at the end-of-life, following insights and aspirations gained from training with the Dartmouth Institute in 2019.
