Biography


Dr Sue Collier qualified from Manchester Medical School in 1984 and worked as a General Practitioner in the North West of England until 2001 when she joined GSK.

She worked on the Salford Lung Study (SLS) as Head of Medical Operations since its operational launch in 2012 and is lead author on, “Monitoring safety in a phase III real-world effectiveness trial: use of novel methodology in the Salford Lung Study”. (Pharmacoepidemiology and drug Safety 2016.)

She is also a co-author on the primary results publications for both SLS COPD and Asthma. “Effectiveness of Fluticasone Furoate–Vilanterol for COPD in Clinical Practice”. NEJM 2016, and “Effectiveness of fluticasone furoate plus vilanterol on asthma control in clinical practice: an open-label, parallel group, randomised controlled trial”. Lancet 2017, as well as several other SLS publications.

Dr Collier was appointed to the position of UK National Physician, Respiratory in February 2018. In this newly created role, she works in close partnership with the UK Respiratory Cross-Functional Team, the UK Clinical Operations Team, Global R & D, and the Global Respiratory Franchise. A key part of the role is to act as the voice of the UK Health Care Professional within GSK and to support communication of information on GSK’s respiratory medicines and research interests.
