GP, President of European Lifestyle Medicine Council and chairman & founder of British Society of Lifestyle Medicine
Rob Lawson qualified as a GP in 1975 and worked in the NHS in Scotland for more than 35 years. As a GP and Lifestyle Medicine Physician, Rob has pioneered the application of Lifestyle Medicine principles in healthcare to prevent, manage and reverse chronic, non- communicable conditions.
In 1991 he founded the registered ELCRG charity to provide weekly activity, support and rehabilitation for patients in East Lothian with long-term conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, stroke, lung disease and frailty.
In 2016 he co-founded the charity, British Society of Lifestyle Medicine (BSLM) with the ambition to take this emerging specialty ‘mainstream’. He continues to practice as a part-time Lifestyle Medicine Physician in Edinburgh. He is also a director of his own Limited Company, which provides ‘Lifestyle as Medicine’ services to patients via a network of qualified practitioners.
