Dr Punam Krishan

portfolio sessional GP specialising in lifestyle medicine

Dr Punam Krishan read medicine at the University of Glasgow before completing her GP training in 2011. She managed her practice as a principal in Glasgow before deciding to venture out and pursue her other interests within medicine.

Dr Krishan is working as a portfolio sessional GP whilst specialising in Lifestyle Medicine. She is passionate about optimising public health and wellbeing by educating and empowering people to embrace the prescription of self-care via lifestyle hacks. Dr Krishan is a director for the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine and is working to promote key health messages through both professional and voluntary modes. She is a advocate for general practice and will talk to anyone who will listen about its potential to save the NHS from crumbling.

A keen educationalist, Dr Krishan is a senior honorary clinical lecturer at the University of Glasgow and recently received an excellence in education award for her postgraduate training contributions to foundation doctors. She has an interest in women’s health and paediatrics as well as medical politics, having served in the LMC. She is keen to drive this interest forward as she believes younger GPs need more opportunities given to them to speak up and be heard.

Dr Krishan is a budding writer and writes for Pulse and Huffington Post. She has featured in Guidelines in Practice and the Eastern eye as well as been interviewed on topical health issues on BBC radio and Awaz FM.
