independent public health practitioner, Whitewoods Wellbeing Ltd
Peter had a clinical background in paediatrics, then spent 10 years as director of public health in three different primary care trusts. He had a particular interest in teaching, training and health economics, and was a pioneer of “programme budgeting” in the NHS. He has advocated for greater collaboration rather than competition and for greater openness and “talking truth to power.” Since retirement from the NHS he has acted as interim director of public in five local authorities. With his wife, Michelle, a teacher, he currently owns and manages 25 acres of woodland as a “natural health service”.
