Biography


Kathryn E Griffith BM BS MSc FRCP MRCGP

Kathryn Griffith was a GP principal in York and a GP specialist in Cardiology at York Teaching Hospital FT for over 20 years, and is now retired from clinical practice.

She achieved her Masters in Postgraduate Cardiology at Bradford University with a dissertation on the links between CVD and CKD in primary care and became a member of the Renal Advisory Group at the Department of Health.

She was a member of the Consensus Panel of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh developing the Consensus Statements on Early Chronic Kidney Disease in 2007.

She was a member of the KDIGO Guideline Development Group for the Update of the CKD Guideline, which was published in 2012 focusing particularly on the section on CKD and CVD.

She was a member of the NICE CKD Update Group, Anaemia Management in Chronic Kidney Disease Guideline Update Group and Renal Stones Guideline Group.

In 2013 she was appointed the RCGP Clinical Champion for Kidney Care, tasked with improving the understanding and management of CKD and AKI in the community.

She was the chair of the HQIP National CKD Audit Project Board and a member of the National AKI Project Board.

She was an active member of the PCCS, being a Board member, Secretary and President. She has believes that it is vital to have a strong primary care voice to improve the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disorders within primary care.
