After completing internal medicine training in the UK and Australia, she trained in metabolic medicine at Imperial College Trust and Guy’s and St Thomas’. She has a specialist interest in lipidology and cardiovascular risk. The Hammersmith Hospital lipid service is a one-stop centre for the genetic diagnosis and management of lipid disorders and also offers research facilities and access to new medications. Dr Cegla’s current research focuses on cardiovascular risk including clinical trials of novel therapeutic agents. Dr Cegla is a member of the Medical, Scientific and Research Committee of HEART UK, the cholesterol charity. She also sits on the National Cardiovascular Disease Prevention System Leadership Forum, the advisory group of Public Health England for strategy on CVD prevention.
