GPSI dermatology and chair, Dermatology Council for England
In January 2018 Dr George Moncrieff retired from his General Practice partnership in rural North Oxfordshire where he had been a GP partner since 1985.
His interests include Dermatology, Child Health and Medical Education. He was a GP trainer for 19 years and an undergraduate tutor at Oxford University for 12 years. He was an examiner for the DCH for 10 years and an external examiner for the Cardiff Diploma in Practical Dermatology until 2005. He has been Chair of The Dermatology Council for England since 2013 working closely with the All Party Parliamentary Group for Skin disease. He was the Dermatology Curriculum Guardian for the RCGP from 2009 for four years and he is a committee member of the PCDS (Primary Care Dermatology Society).
From 2000 until retiring he ran an interface Dermatology service from his practice, receiving about 15 new referrals each week from the local GPs, covering a population of 80,000. He now works one day a week in a private practice in Oxford city and provides locum support as needed to a number of local practices. This means he can now concentrate on his interests in teaching dermatology, as well as spending time pursuing his non-medical interest and looking after his grandchildren.
