Biography


Gareth qualified from the University of Manchester in 2005 before completing higher training in Mersey. He spent 2 years doing research at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital centre before being appointed as a Consultant at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital in 2015. Gareth has a specialist interest in Asthma and leads the Transition clinic with colleagues from Alder Hey. Since 2018 he has chaired the British Thoracic Society’s specialist advisory group on Tobacco. Gareth is currently leading a project to improve the treatment of tobacco dependence in sick smokers admitted to hospital. He lives on the Wirral with his family.
