GP and governing body member, Croydon CCG
Dr Emily Symington is a salaried GP in Croydon. She completed her medical training at Southampton University and GP training in Lewisham. Following completion of her GP training in 2015 she undertook a Darzi fellowship with Croydon CCG during which she was involved in clinician training to support self-management and shared decision making.
Emily as a keen interest in person centred care. She is a Croydon CCG Governing Body member and Clinical Lead for a programme called Together for Health and Care. In these roles she works with the Croydon alliance of providers to improve services, with a particular focus on supporting people to be active participants in their care. Her passion is promoting productive interactions between clinicians and people to support individuals to feel more confident in managing their own health.
Emily is Group Consultation Lead for the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine (BSLM). She has been instrumental in bringing group consultations to Croydon and has recently worked with the Health Innovation Network to pilot a model for group consultations in Lewisham. She delivers group consultations for COPD at her own clinical practice and supports others to develop their skills in this consultation style.
