NHS GP, broadcaster and author
Dr Ellie Cannon is an NHS GP with 15 years’ experience in family and women’s health. She is the resident GP for the Mail on Sunday and Mailonline and well known as the on-screen GP for Sky News Sunrise.
In March 2018, Dr Cannon presented to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Women’s Health at their inaugural Women’s Health Conference in Parliament. Attended by over 100 politicians, stakeholders, charities and individuals, Ellie spoke on the normalization of menstrual health, breaking the period taboo and encouraging women of all ages to speak up about health issues from periods to mental health to menopause.
Ellie has previously contributed to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Body Image amongst female fashion models and is recognized as a Champion of Choice for the British Pregnancy Advisory Service for broadcasting which they believe “tackles misinformation masquerading as science.”
Ellie is a charity ambassador for Meningitis Now, Pancreatic Cancer Action and the women’s cancer charity The Eve Appeal. Ellie regularly works on campaigns for Public Health England including the latest Cervical Screening Awareness campaign of March 2019.
Dr Ellie read medicine at Cambridge University and the Royal Free Hospital and has worked as a salaried GP in the same NHS GP practice for the last decade.
