GP and realistic medicine and therapeutics clinical lead, NHS Western Isles
Dr Rigby is a GP working in the Western Isles of Scotland where he has been based for the last twenty years. In addition to his GP work he also works for the Health Board providing Clinical Pathways support, acts as the chair of the local Area Drug and Therapeutics Committee and works as the Realistic Medicine lead for NHS Western Isles.
He has a keen interest in self management, in particular to try and reduce the burden of medication for patients and the associated morbidity this can cause. He has worked closely with colleagues and the third sector to try and develop a range of options for patients affected by chronic pain. In particularly, work with Pain Association Scotland has allowed new innovative ways of supporting patients throughout the Western Isles.
